White Christmas

Sing along!

An English Christmas

Dinner for One. The same procedure as every year, James.

James: The same procedure as last year, Miss Sophie?
Miss Sophie: The same procedure as every year, James!
James: By the way, the same procedure as last year, Miss Sophie?
Miss Sophie, delightedly: The same procedure as every year, James!
James: Well, I'll do my very best!
Curiosidades

Just the way you are - Bruno Mars

Ohhh...
Oh her eyes, her eyes
make the stars look
like they're not shining
Her hair, her hair
falls perfectly
without her trying
She's so beautiful
and I tell her everyday

Yeah I know, I know
when I compliment her
she wont believe me
And it's so it's so
sad to think she
don't see what I see
But everytime she asks me do
I look okay
I say

[Chorus]
When I see your face
there's not a thing
that I would change
Cause you're amazing
Just the way you are

And when you smile
the whole world stops
and stares for a while
Cause girl you're amazing
Just the way you are.

Her lips, her lips No eran "nails" (ya me extrañaba a mí!!!)
could kiss them
all day if she'd let me
Her laugh, her laugh
She hates but
I think it's so sexy
She's so beautiful
and i tell her
everyday

Oh you know, you know
you know
I'd never ask
you to change
if perfect is what
you're searching for
then just stay the same
So don't even bother asking
if you look okay
You know I say

[Chorus]

The way you are
The way you are
Girl you're amazing
Just the way you are

[Chorus]

Yeaaaaah.

Song: Something Stupid - Unit 2b

SOMETHING STUPID.

I know I stand in line
Until you think you have the time
To spend an evening with me
And if we go someplace to dance
I know that there's a chance
You won't be leaving with me

Then afterwards we drop into a quiet little place
And have a drink or two
And then I go and spoil it all
By saying something stupid
Like I love you

I can see it in your eyes
You still despise the same old lines
You heard the night before
And though it's just a line to you
For me it's true
And never seemed so right before

I practice every day to find some clever
lines to say
To make the meaning come true
But then I think I'll wait until the evening
gets late
And I'm alone with you

The time is right
Your perfume fills my head
The stars get red
And oh the night's so blue
And then I go and spoil it all
By saying something stupid
Like I love you

The time is right
Your perfume fills my head
The stars get red
And oh the night's so blue
And then I go and spoil it all
By saying something stupid
Like I love you
I love you...

Algo estúpido

Sé que estoy a la espera
Hasta que creas tener tiempo
Para pasar una tarde conmigo
Y si vamos a algún lugar a bailar
Sé que es probable
Que no te marches conmigo

Ya después llegamos
A un lugar tranquilo
Y me tomo una o dos copas
Y luego voy y lo arruino todo
Al decir algo estúpido
Como "te amo"

Puedo verlo en tus ojos
Que desprecias las mismas
frases viejas
Y nunca me pareció tan correcto

Practico a diario para encontrar
Algunas frases ingeniosas que decirte
Para que el significado sea real
Pero luego pienso que es mejor esperar
Hasta que llegue la tarde
Y estar a solas contigo

El momento es el adecuado
Tu perfume llena mi cabeza
Las estrellas se vuelven rojas
Y oh la noche está tan azul
Y luego voy y lo arruino todo
Al decir algo estúpido
Como "te amo...

PRONUNCIATION: some help

First try to repeat the audiowords in New English File here: today choose the NUMBERS, COUNTRIES & NATIONALITIES and COMMON OBJECTS.

Secondly, practise the pronunciation of the verb TO BE in the affirmative, negative and interrogative; visit here spokenenglish.org. The alphabet is here... it's quite fast, but don't panic, it's OK.

By the way, I found this great tool in "the English Blog". If you use Mozilla Firefox, there is a fantastic add-on for English learners: "Pronounce". It uses the services on www.merriam-webster.com so the accent is American. If I can find something similar in British English, I'll tell you. INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Download it here.  (be careful, if you have the version of Firefox 7.0.1  it doesn't work)
  2. Install it and restart Firefox
  3. Select a word
  4. Right click on it and choose Pronounce.
  5. luckily you'll hear the word pronounced.

PRESENT CONTINUOUS

We normally use it to describe what people are wearing, so if you want to practise both the vocabulary on clothes and the present continuous, please visit this interactive book; it contains exercises and many more things.

You can also test your vocabulary on clothes here , or you can play this game.
In this activity by Isabel Pérez, you have to write the verb in the Present Simple or in the Present Continuous form. Just click on "?" to see the verb. This other exercise is excellent for revising the same grammar point and putting sentences in the right order.

Finally, you can also watch these people speaking about what they are wearing.
To practise directions visit the Real English page here.

LISTENING PRACTICE

We have the final test soon, do you need some extra practice? Then see this post from EOI Elche.
To practise spelling, watch this video.
