Present simple vs. present continuous. Remember the different uses:

PRESENT SIMPLE:

• habits : Santos always talks about his family
• routines (watch this video to remember) Mick goes to class every day
• states: Paul has red hair

PRESENT CONTINUOUS:

• (temporary) activities happening now The kids are watching TV. 
• activities happening around now, and not necessarily this very moment: Sally is studying really hard for her exams this week.

Let's see if you can tell the difference between both tenses! Do these exercises, or these ones. Can you complete this text using the appropriate form?

Here's some extra practice for these two units, please have a look:

• grammar: file 2, file 3. You can also revise the present simple with many activities here, here and in this text. 
• vocabulary: you can do some crosswords and wordsearches to practise jobs, verbs, the family, common adjectives, countries & nationalities, common objects, daily routines, times & dates. Click HERE to hear the pronunciation of many of these words. Listen and repeat them!
• These listenings are quite slow and easy: interesting conversation, opening & closing times, shopping, telephoning, offers, breakfast, Ireland, Australia. You can see the words (if you click on "menu"), but please listen once or twice first WITHOUT LOOKING... before you actually read them
• practical English: checking in; buying a coffee.
• reading: choose the texts for these two units. Read them, take out some words and try to rebuild the original text.

CULTURAL WEEK

YES!!! We are having some cultural days at the EOI Arucas and you are all invited to come. Activities will be on Tuesday and Wednesday evening and Thursday morning (17th-19th November). Of course you are expected to come in your lesson time but you are free to come to any of the other activities.

Meanwhile, you can start getting ready by preparing a cake recipe for the cake competition. Send it to arucaseoi@gmail.com and bring your cake on Wednesday evening (around 5.30) or Thursday morning (around 11am). Yummy!If cooking isn't your thing, then why not prepare a bookmarker (for ideas go here, here, here) or take part in the mini saga competition?
